hi everybody,

i am a new owner of a Rinker 270 f.v built 2002, which i have purchased from Florida and tranported to Greece, where i live.

The boat is equiped with a waste tank and as per the surveyor's report is equiped with a macerator.

Although i have searched a lot to locate the switch for the macerator pump as well as the hose for the discharge to the sea, i did not succeed.

The boat has one Merc 350 mag. Both the water tank and waste tank are located to the right side of the boat(looking forward)

Has anybody any ideas to the subject?

Thanks in advance

Hi Alex, welcome to the forum. It is illegal to use macerators where I boat so I can't help you. However, I can say welcome and I'm sure someone will answer your question.
Cheers,
Ron

Alex, the layout may be different, but you should have a "y" valve in the engine bay (well, it's there on the larger Rinkers, and I'm sure someone will correct me!) that will point your discharge either to the waste outlet on your gunwale or to a through-hull and over the side.  You'll see the pump in close proximity to the valve, and both should be in close proximity to the tank  A bigger question is where they put your switch -- on ours, it's on the port side, in the stern cockpit -- just a switch and breaker hanging out by itself.  Maybe yours is in the cabin?

Hope that helps!

The switch should not be inside the cabin. The only switches inside there is the Generator's panel. On the cockpit panel there is only one switch with no indication. maybe it is the one.
The issue is that by looking the waste tank, i could not find any pipes leading on the hull. There are only 2 white large diameter pipes, one is attached on the top side of the tank and the other is attached to the bottom of it.I assume that one of them is leading to the 'waste' plug attached to the hull and the other one is coming from the head to the tank.  There is also another small diameter pipe, which i trust is for ventilation. Moreover i could not see any valves close to the tank nor any pump.

It is very strange to me that i cannot find the solution, since the surveyor wrote me that there is a macerator, but where is it finally?!?!?!!!!

Thanks all for your replies so far,
Any additional ideas?

Alex, Maybe the surveyor is wrong..? They tend to use templates for their reports and they missed this item. Remember, they do have an error or ommissions warning for such things. Pump outs are better for the environment anyways. Even the cruise ships cannot dump anymore.

Alex, Ron has the right of it. If my boat hadn't already been built with a mascerator, I wouldn't have ordered one -- don't like the idea of dumping over the side...

we ordered the macerator for use on land since we trailer our 280 cruiser.. at least for now..

this way we can use the dump stations at RV parks.. or gas stations while we are cleaning up the boat..
some of the smaller lakes we go to don't have pump out stations.. so as a last resort, we stop by the waste dump for RVs on the way out of the park and dump..

i would agree on the issue that it isn't proper to pump out waste in general.
The main problem in Greece is that there is no facilities to discharge wastes in mosts of the marinas.Ofcourse the sea conditions in Greece is not as in a lake.If you go out of the ports, the waves are choppy and ussually the height of them is min 0.5 meters daily with wind forces min.3-4 beufort scale. These conditions makes the wastes to be actually eliminated, provided of course that you are not pumping out close to any beaches or ports, but at a distance of more than 6-8 n.m.
