Long Beach, Long Island

Does anyone know if its possible to take the boat to Long Beach?  How close are you allowed to get to the beach (I figure you can't just pull right up, but wonder if you can get within swimmable distance?)

Also, looks like you can go inside...near Silver Point.  Is there a place to dock for a few hours around there?

You have to run the inside through Rockaway inlet and through Reynolds Channel to get to Long Beach.  I'm not familiar with docking in Long Beach, but go to the LICC web site and ask there.

On the north side of Reynolds Channel is Island Park and there is a restaurant called Paddy Mcgees that has docking.  You may have to eat a meal there to stay there, but I haven't been there in years and the rules may have changed.  From Island Park, you would have to take a cab into Long Beach.  Also, another good spot not far from Long Beach is the Woodcleft canal in Freeport. No beach, but rows of restaurants, bars, shops, etc.  Docking is plentiful and everything is right on the canal.

There are several marinas not too far from Long Beach, in Freeport.  We are at Jones Inlet Marina, on Hudson Canal, there are plenty of slips available this year for transients.  It is a short ride to Long Beach (and the previously referenced Paddy McGees in Island Park), and it is one canal over from Woodcleft Canal, with a dozen restaurants on the water, all w/ dock space.
