Took a trip over to the Indy show today.  Got my exercise for the day walking the various venues.  A few notices about the new Rinkers (mostly the non "Cruiser' models.  Of course, I did take a gander at the cruisers.....they are definately right up there with the other brands.

Anyway:

1.  The new WHITE gel coat is very WHITE......a dramatic improvement from what I can tell.

2.  In looking at the 226 and 246 models (being a 212 owner), it's my opinion, while these are VERY nice boats, those of us with a 212 or 232 actually have more 'room' than the 226 and 246 give those in the passenger compartment.  I think the difference is that my 212 is a legit 21'+ tip to stern (not counting swim platform) which is more like  23'+ with the swim platform.....LOA is listed as 23'6" on the 226....however if you look at the pictures closely, there's at least a foot of 'wasted' space behind the sun lounger....which leaves for less room for passengers and gear up front (at least IMHO).   The 246 appears to have a similar properties.

I'm not 'knocking' the new models, they seem really cool.....but at this point I'll take my  212 over a  226 from a cockpit and passenger compartment space perspective.

Thanks Steve for your review, sure wish they would have had the Rinkers at the Grand Rapids show!

I recently purchased the 226 and I agree that there is not as much Floor Space as the 212, but there is much more storage compartments and more seating capactiy than the 212.

I liked the idea that I could hide all of my gear and utilize the rest of the boat for People.

The sunpad and integrated swim platform will be great for the kids and us as that is where we will spend most of the time while anchored..
