Just wondering if anyone has familiarity with the lower CT for daytripping, i.e.-finding a cove or something and staying the day? I know the River is a great day cruise, a lot of scenary etc..

I keep my boat in Chester CT on the River.  I'm up and down the river all day.  Our favorite spot is Hamburg Cove.  Its about 1/4 mile above Essex.  Essex is also a great place to just stop for a ice cream.  You can tie at the town ramp for free for two hours.  Let me know when you are around.  Word of Caution though, this time of year lots of logs etc in the river from the flooding.
