Happy New Year!

I hope everyone got everything they wanted for Christmas. If not, the New York Boat Show starts this weekend...

This is the time of year when I start pulling out the calendar and try to figure out how much time I can decently disappear from my office before someone notices. And, while I'm at it, start roughing out where to go and when. Of course, knowing full well that at least one finely laid plan will go awry due to weather, work or some other mischance.

I think that we'll head for Sag Harbor for Memorial Day Weekend. With luck there will be a slip available at the Sag Harbor Yacht Club. They have a nice small town type parade in Sag and lots of fine restaurants and the beaches aren't too far away.

I think that the best boating weather in the northeast is in June and July so I'll try to plan a few days in New Harbor at Block Island. And then there's nothing better than Fourth of July on Nantucket. We didn't get to Martha's Vineyard last year. Maybe we should stop there for a few days on the way back from Nantucket?

If anyone wants to try to meet up somewhere we might want to consider Mystic Seaport. I'm a member and can book some space at their dock. It's a lot of fun having the run of the place after it empties out and they close the gates for the night.

All the best,

Nancy

Welcome Back, Mac!

We're going to be trying to do more on the Hudson this year, hopefully heading up to the Catskills. We'll definitely be at Kingston again for the 4th.  But Mystic sounds like it could definitely be fun! What timeframe were you thinking of -- early summer? Late?

Wow - I haven't been to Mystic in years and never by boat. I love that place.

The Seaport is great for an overnight! I will call them and see what's already on their calendar. I know they host a big trawlerfest event at some point.

The best weather on Long Island Sound and east is in June and July. It's too early for the tropical storms to start boiling up the coast. G&G, how does the last week of July sound?

And, Talon, if you fly into NY, Hartford or Providence I'll come pick you up...

All the best,

Nancy

Mac, We are also members at Mystic.  Let me know when you are going to plan on being there, and maybe we'll join there as well.  We became members there last year and really have never been there by boat...  We keep our boat up on the CT river just above Deep River and Hamburg Cove.  That is another great place for a cheap weekend.  The cove is a great place to hang out and socialize with friends.  There is a water trampoline there that they owner lets the kids use for free....

At 140 or so miles each way, it's definitely doable.  Lots of no-wakes, so it'd be close to 6 hours... Let me work on the Admiral!

We might be heading out that way at that time too.  The first week of August we are planning a Block/Montauk trip and looking for a place to go the first weekend of the trip.

Does anyone boats out of Port Jefferson?  We upgraded to a Rinker 27 FV and can not wait for the summer.  If anyone is out there out of our area we will like to know.  Maybe we can get together for drinks even before boating season.

Hope everyone is well!!!

Sounds like fun.
We planned on visiting Mystic a few times this past summer and never made it.
It might be doable for us too. :)

I'm planning on  Greenport around Aug. 7-11 and West Hampton Beach sometime during the last week of July.  Nancy, I was thinking of trying for Block, but I heard the Block Island sound can get very snotty and wasn't sure I could make it in a 250EC.

We are also planning a trip to Greenport although we have no dates yet.  Those August dates look tempting!

For those planning to go to Greenport, just wanted to make you all aware that there is a big Power Squadron event in Greenport from August 1-3, with many of the boats arriving earlier or staying later.  All the marinas are already booked the week of July 28-Aug 3.

I haven't been around for a while and I regret that but I went insane and bought another boat and that process has kept me up to my ears for the past couple of months. As a result, I am getting very serious about selling the Rinker (2 boats is at least one too many!).

I will be bringing the new boat up from Fort Lauderdale to Nantucket starting May 5, weather permitting. I intend to take my time so I'm guessing it will take about 2 weeks, again weather permitting. I've dreamed of making this trip for a long time and I don't want to rush it!

If any of you are around Nantucket this summer, look for a big white boat in the mooring field named "Charmer".

All the best,

Nancy
