Talon,

Possibly this has been asked before, but have you approached the Rinker company about getting a link to this site on their site?

Hasn't been asked yet, but I have thought about it. Several considerations:

1) need to get the site really going first. It's really starting to go - we have doubled the traffic this week vs. last week. Once we can prove I have a viable owners group (ie. The conversations take of without me being involved), I will go to Rinker and try to get them to at least contribute input.

2) I would also like to eventually put together owners group meets and events. With or without Rinker support.

Before I really do much more, I need to move the site to a faster connection (especially since it's starting to take off - we did 45 unique guests today, more than in the past 3 weeks combined), and get everybody participating. Once things really go, I'll appoint some people moderator access and let them run the sections of the site that they are experts in (bowriders, motors, etc.)

*hint hint* if you want to be a moderator, help me get the site active :)

Talon,

Take care,

Phil, no problem at all! I hadn't actually come across those sites, although I'll go check them out.

Thanks for the plug!

I also moderate another YAHOO group..... smallerrinkerboats......as there were quite a few of us with boats in the 192-262 range that did not care to receive regular e-mails about "stuff "on the 'cruises' that did not interest us (IMHO, best way to monitor YAHOO groups is to get all posts via e-mail....a lot faster to read).  That group has had on and off times of activity.  I plan to make a post to that group right now letting them know about this group which will probalby put the YAHOO groups out of business soon as a quality BB such as this is really the way to go.

WRT Rinker or someone 'monitoring' the site......my experience in other areas (businesses) is that it's nearly impossible for the 'experts' to regularly monitor something like this.  The reason they are experts is that they regularly employ their talents into their 'jobs' and most are way busy to mess with spending a couple of hours a day (in addition say to actually fixing boats) monitoring forums....but it does happen from time to time, but rare in my experience.  On the other hand, us retired guys can talk to the mechanics when we have something fixed and learn what was up and relay it to the group whenever possible.

Just my nickels worth

Steve L.

Steve - missed this post earlier. Yet another yahoo group comes out of the woodwork, I don't know how I missed them in my searches for Rinker sites. I appreciate any advertising you can do on these sites. My aim is not to put any of them out of business (I'm joining every one I can find!), but to provide a consolidated place for Rinker owners of all sizes to hang out.

Thanks again!
