I was wondering if anyone else has purchased the removeable davits for their dingy?  If so, what are your thoughts on them?

I'm be interested in the flip up type weaver davits, so when I don't bring the dingy along I can slide the davits off and store them away.

Thanks

Those are nice, but not the ones that I am referring to.  I meant the snap davits that are removable.  So when you don't have the dinghy along you can remove the snap part so that you don’t bang your toes up on them, but the mount is left on the platform.  Here is a link to the type I am talking about, but not necessarily the brand.  This is what would be left on the platform.

These are the davits.

Thanks

Hank - they're really easy to install and use, but be careful.  I installed the brackets in the cut-outs for the davits on my 270. The 'post' that holds the C-clamps in place is really hard to get in because of the recess. I don't bother to take them out becuase of that.  If I were to do it all over, I would install the clamps 'on' the platform - maybe beside the cut outs.  Not a huge issue, but just wanted to give you a heads up.

By the way, I lived in Albany and then Saratoga Springs for a total of 12 years. Moved away about 11 years ago and now live in the SF Bay area.  I absolutely love that part of NY!

Well, on "R Bay B" and my year's 310, we have no cutouts for the davits.  I keep looking and still thinking about talking the admiral into a dinghy, maybe next year

Actually, I worked for Key Bank in Albany.  Various management positions over a 12 year period.  I wasn't into boating at the time, can you believe it!?  My (ex) wife and I spent a ton of time at Lake George, but usually just hanging out away from the touristy parts.  Hiking and just hanging by the water.

I only got into boating once I move to California.  We boat in the Delta and are totally into it.  The weather makes is possible to boat pretty-much year round - no winterizing needed.  We're out almost every weekend.  If the weather's too nasty to go out we just hang out in our slip - as long as we're on the water we're happy.
