We need to break past habits -- my wife had already accepted two barbeques before it kicked in that we should have them out on the boat! We'll probably stick around Stony Point, catch the fireworks and investigate the swimming holes. Saturday night I want to hit Newburgh NY's restaurants to see what's there, then beat it back to catch the Coke 600. Sunday is Indy, then likely one barbeque we can't miss. I have a feeling there are the planting of annuals in my future Monday -- we'll see what happens!
BTW, are you finally in, Mac?

I hope to get the boat into the water sometime this week.. then take it on the 10 mile trip to her summer port. Then I get to spend some time cleaning it this weekend.

My boating time this weekend really depends alot of family stuff thats been planned. Non-boaters just don't understand the "do not plan any events from April - October policy"

Hank, I'll drop a line when our plans finalize -- the Admiral put her second hat on as Julie the Cruise Director. How far south are you thinking of coming?

We have never taken the trip so I don't know how far we comfortably make and still have some fun when we get there... I'm doing some more research today and will firm up by thursday.... I want to leave really early saturday morning so we could get pretty far south...
How long does it take you to get to Newburgh for Stony Point?

For us it looks like a visit up to Baltimore. We've got reservations for two nights at Anchorage marina, and maybe Friday night we'll just anchor somewhere on the way there. Our marina has a cookout on Saturday that would've been nice, but I just can't hold myself there on a 3 day (actually 4 day) weekend that I can venture.

Hank, Newburgh's probably an hour. I think Kingston is two up from Stony POint. There are *alot* of sights to see, you'll be coming down to Kingston from the north, and from what I understand from Offshore Magazine, that's a great place to spend a day by itself (along the waterfront there). Probably alot more I don't know about yet! The article for Kingston was here:

Hey Dream, it's tough deciding between barbeques and beer or water -- or both! Where are you going after Baltimore?
for the first time I'm considering TiVoing races -- wow, what a concept!

I think you're right about Kingston.. .... That may be as far as we get.... From home port we have to go through 6 locks (10 miles or so) before getting to the Hudson which will take 2 hrs or so... After that Kingston should be 3 1/2 hrs +/-... That might be enough for our first long cruise...
Let me know how your plans develope as well

Darci & I are taking delivery of our new 370 on Friday and then planning on spending the entire weekend cruising the lake and taking our friends out.
Rinker delivered "Lifestyle Choice" to the dealer by noon last Saturday. He worked to try to get it set up for delivery Sunday, but numerous items weren't complete.
They got the hardtop and the drop down TV/DVD mounted, but still had to hook up the radar/chartplotter/GPS. They also have a LOT of cleanup to do. I never realized how dusty/dirty a boat is upon delivery; there was wood and fiberglass shavings everywhere, in addition to road grime on the parts of the hull not covered by shrinkwrap. There's also adhesive from the packing/wrapping all over it. Time for some Goo-Gone!
We did get a chance to cruise around the lake by the marina. It was awesome! I was really amazed how quiet and smooth the Volvo 8.1s were compared to the 350 MAGs on our 320. They were also much quieter than the Merc 496 HO's on the 400 we drove. I've had Volvo's before and have been completely happy with them, so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised.
Anyway, it's beautiful with the black hullsides and silver accent striping. I'll post pics next week. Everybody have a safe and fun holiday weekend!
