this is a chunk that was removed from my boat during the bowthruster installation.
about a 1/2" to 9/16" of an inch depending on where you measured.
just thought you might be interested

There's a story there that I'm not sure I want to know about! :)

Rinker does make a nice thick laminate, but realize boats are not the same laminate thickness everywhere in the hull.  The higher stressed areas are very thick and the lower stressed areas are thinner.  If you checked the transom thickness, its probably 3 times thicker than the piece of fiberglass you had cut out by the bow.

So the engine cmpartment and surrounding areas-Battery mounting areas are probably pretty thick.

Typically, the transom and hull bottom are very thick and the hull sides are thinner.  I was at the Rinker dealer and I saw a Captiva model (not sure which one) that was awaiting a new gimbal housing and motor and I couldn't believe how thick the laminate was at the transom. Must have been at least 2" thick.

the 2 gentlemen that did the installation both commented on how impressed they were on the thickness of the hull and the quality of the workmanship...
they were pleasantly suprised

they also commented that this was above average for what they had seen firsthand in the industry :D
