Question for the 270 owners.

We currently have a 1999 Rinker 212 bowrider with 5.0L carb and Alpha 1. Boat set-up is great for us for how we have been using it. Have been looking at the 270 Fiesta Vee with the thought of moving up. My wife and I are not as into skiing as we were a few years ago. The daughter and her family probably still are though. Has anyone used a 270 for towing a skier or tuber? This boat would not be purchased as a ski boat but rather intended as a small cruiser that it is designed as. The skiing would be minimal.
Also how comfortable is the 270 for 2 for a week-end/overnight? How about 4? I know it's to small for 6.
Thanks.

boboh,
We have an 01 270 with the 5.7 EFI and a Bravo III. The boat would pull a skier but we do not as it would be pretty hard on it in my opinion. I am sure others do though. If you had the 6.2 or 7.4 engine, I am sure it would be fine. We are very pleased with the 5.7 as it has reasonable power and it is very economical cruising @ 25 MPH. Just not ideal for skiing IMHO.
We spent most weekends on the boat with 2 adults and 2 children all last summer. It has enough room assuming your expectations are set correctly. We have decided we want more room though and plan to move up to a 32'-34' boat this year.
Good luck!

Just big enough to be big enough. 2 people great,4 people will have no problem although it will be intimate. The most spacious sleeping accommodations of any 27 I have ever been on. Large opening to the rear berth is key for me. Good headroom. When the table is up it seats 4 easily. I would like to have a dedicated dinette but everything is a trade off. If you are a big person like me the head barely passes the butt wipe test but it's doable. Shower works well when sitting on the head, again a little tight but workable. My biggest complaint about the interior is it could use more storage space. Exellent entry to mid level cruiser. i have never skied behind mine

Boboh,
My previous boat was a 210 Crownline Cuddy. My wife and I did numerous overnights last season with TWO kids (ages 4 & 1). However, this required lots of creative planning and patience. Son and I slept on the sunpad under the camper canvas, wife and daughter slept on the V-berth.
Although I haven't taken delivery of my 270 yet, it should be comfortable for 2 adults or adequate for a family of four. I base this upon past experience with boats of this size.
You could overnight on the 270 with four adults, but I think you would have to be "extremely" comfortable with one another to spend any length of time in such "close quarters".

I have pulled a tube quite a bit with my FV270. I have no problem with power with an 8.1L engine, but you can run through alot of gas quickly. Everyone that has tubed behind the boat likes the big wake that it produces. The fellow boaters in the cove hate the wake, when you go around them.
All said the FV270 is a great sized boat for a couple with small kids and it works for water sports.

Boboh,
Two adults two kids great.
If you are going to cruise all day and dock for the evening or spend most of your time onthe deck and use the cabin for sleeping only. 4 adults will work.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I probably would not be planning on pulling skiers or tubers with a 270 but also wanted to know if others did. It could be an issue with having a couple of grandkids on board. I think my real concern will be can 2 people be comfortable on a 270 for a week-end. sounds like we can. We had looked at some 34' boats but between price, amount of expected use and where we boat the 34' will not work for us. The nice thing with the 34' is the interior space/layout but then that comes with the price.
We were at the Cleveland Boat Show a few weeks ago and I now wish we had looked closer at the 270 and other boats in that size range.

My teenagers wake board behind my 270, they love the big wake, i have three older boys and it can get crowded when they all come to the boat at the same time.

No problem towing skiers from the 270 with the 5.7/320hp. For some of the heavier and less skilled ones I've had to work the trim tabs a bit to get them up though.
Biggest problem I have since moving from a 19' to the 270 is getting my wife or daughters to drive so I can ski. They're a bit intimidated.
