Man, this recent "cold" snap we've had here in Central Virginia is really putting a damper on the boating spirit.  Come on Mid March.  We're hoping to dip our boat for the first time in mid to late March.  April 1st at the latest.
I bought the admiral a boat heater, and the camper canvas package to hopefully extend our boating season earler and later in the year.  :P

We bought a heater a couple months ago and, with the canvas up, it allowed us to be out in miserable conditions at night. It does a GREAT job of keeping the cockpit warm. I would never use it in the cabin though.

What kind of heater did you get?
We got the Coleman propane heater.  I think it's actually marketed as a golf cart heater, but seems to put out a decent amount of heat.  Should be toasty for the admiral sitting right in front of her.

Mr. Heater!  Best 60 bucks I've spent on the boat yet. Propane on a boat makes me nervous, so we don't run the gennie while it's on, or use it in the cabin, or use it while we're moving, etc... I also roll down the screen in the canvas a tad to allow fresh air in.

Burrrrrr...we had an officers meeting last night at the club and the ice extends out a couple hundred yards.  It is at the point now where it doesn’t take much to melt it.  Other than late November and most of December the lake wasn't froze over this year.  We actually prefer it to freeze...it keeps our shoreline from being pounded all winter long.

Funny you should ask Talon...new boat came in today!   :P

Regardless of splash date (probably April 1st), I will be posting "land" pics of the new boat soon!

Woohoo!

here on the west side of cleveland we have no ice,I know the east side of cleveland is like siberia ,can't imagine ice over there just ten miles away. the forcast in cleveland calls for 50&60s next week so that ice over there is history.

anyone know of a portable ice breaker for a 410??

April 15th sounds good. It gives about 2 weeks to get ready for my first "official" outting, the Chicago Loop Cruise.  That event has always taken place the last Saturday in April.  I always do a shakedown run in advance of the CLC but don't consider it boating as it's more work than play.
