I am thinking about adding windlass to my 2000  270. has anyone done this and might share with me some details and issues you ran into? Also I have read there is a chance that there might be wires pre-ran from the factory, is this a possibility? How about access to the rode area in general? And lastly does anyone have a picture of a factory install windlass on their 270 that would help me with placement?  Thanks your your help! Any pros or cons with a windlass is also appreciated.

I have nothing but PROs for a windlass...I would never own a boat without one after using it... Rinker uses Lewmar windlasses, maybe they can help from their website. Removing parts of your cabin ceiling isn't as bad as you think for running wires. Just pop those buttons off and there are all the mounting screws. I really don't think Rinker would run wire from the factory on a boat that doesn't come with a windlass as standard equipment. JMO.

Click onto the link above,  Great procuct for a 270  Lewmar Pro series 700.  Anchor rode is 1/2" with a 1/4" G4 chain.   For a 270 you should run 6 gauge marine cable for both + and -.    A great place to hide the cables is behind the starboard gunnel pad, they will fit fine and be silent when running.  Note you will also need an anchor and anchor holder for proper operation.  I have installed dozens of these units in single engine boats.  For twins I usually upgrade to a 1000 series.  Good luck  Al
