Hey I was just wondering how I would go about finding a reputable one and what it might cost?

Surveys in Northern Indiana run from $200 to$500+ depending on location and what type of survey is desired.  The larger the boat, the more generally.  Usually for a 270 out of the water, a survey generally runs around $300.00.  Some surveyors like to be in water and out as to check the hull and drives.    Note the more indepth the higher the cost.  If the surveyor has to travel quite far and marina is uncooperative the cost will go up very quickly.  I am not a licensed surveyor, so I do not do surveys.  However I have done alot of inspections for customers, and insurance companies.  Remember when picking a surveyor, talk to them first, tell them I am interested in buying this boat.  Some like to use fance nautical terms which really make no sense at all.  Like "adrift" example  Windshield appears to be adrift"".   Most windshiels are not adrift, ie floating around, they might just need a little tightening.  Use your common sense.  The Rinker 270 is a great boat,  The Hull is extreamly strong.  A Mercruiser drive is very durable.  Note, alway remember to check the "Gimble Ring" for any slop/movement.  This is a common area in used Mercruisers which may need service.  Good luck  Al
