All -

As you all probably know, RBO was hacked yesterday at approximately 10:00.  We've worked with the site host, and they've restored the site from the backups they keep as a matter of course.  RBO was restored as of 11:10 on 1/19/2012.

Please note that we may have lost some comment threads between the time of the backup and the time of the hack -- be patient with each other!

I certainly noticed the "hack" activity and sorely missed the site during its downtime.  Thanks VERY MUCH to you and the other moderators for getting it back up in record time... as well as all the other "moderating" that you guys do.   clapping clapping clapping  thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup

George et. al.

Thank you for getting the site back up.  I was concerned that it could not be restored.

I googled, or in my case "Binged" the ID of the clown who did this.  It seems he has done a lot of damage in his career.  Many other sites have been hacked by this dufiss.

Exactly, apparently he's been concentrating on older sites to improve his standing in the hacker world. No real challenges, more like he's picking on the disadvantaged.  Unfortunately, not having the ability to upgrade / cleanup, RBO is a poster child for the disadvantaged.

Good job on getting the site back up and running.  I have never figured out why people hack a site like this. If they are so smart why don't they get a job using their brains rather than interrupting people's lives.

What would it take to upgrade the site?  I am sure if the word was out that many of us would donate $ toward the cause.  I for one have gained invaluable information and have save lots of $$$ because of this site.

Great job getting the site back up and running. I also thought that maybe the site was down for good.
I realize that you are limited on what you can do as far as upgrading the site due to the fact that Talon owns the site. Is there any way you can somehow clone this site and restart it?
Thanks again for your work in keeping us up and running.

trying to get migratable copies of the member information and all the valuable posts (well, that turns out to be all the posts, including Raybo's jokes!) is the issue.  Can't get at that without admin rights -- at least not yet...

It will be missed if something happens and we lose it. There are some great people on this site. You guys do a great job of keeping running. Long live the RBO.....

We're in good (or bad) company -- the FBI and Department of Justice got hacked yesterday, and they've undoubtedly got teams of highly paid professionals running their sites.

Thanks for all that you guys do to keep this up and running, you do a great job!
