Hey Guys.

The horn on my 2005 342 has never worked since I bought it last year. How hard are they to replace and does anybody know what to order that will fit.

Thanks,

Hamdog

I believe they use the same Ongaro dual trumpets I have on the 360. The issue you'll likely run into (and what you might have already) is that the wiring on the Rinker isn't of sufficient gauge to bring the power all the way to the horn, especially after a couple of years of corrosion has set in.  My horn was sounding like a duck with a hernia at the end of last season, I bought a new set of Ongaros from Marine Electronics Unlimited (  http://www.marine-electronics-unlimited.com/Ongaro+Horn+Dual+Trumpet+Deluxe+SS.html ) and thought it'd be a simple replacement (just tie the new horn into the wires for the old one, right?) Well, there was only enough juice coming to the horn to work one trumpet, wiring both in gave me the same squawk.  So I needed to run a new power supply (10 gauge) from the battery into a relay, and that solved it. The original 14 gauge wiring I used for the horn switch, and everything else up to the wires supplied by the Ongaro is 10 gauge. Works great now, plenty of power.

Take your horn apart and clean it before replacing it. You most likely have spider webs in it preventing the horn from working...
