Hi All,

The other thing that has been happening over the summer is my Rinker 250 has been not starting every now and again. It will start perfectly for a while and then all of a sudden it won't start... Even had to get pulled in by the coast guard last weekend!

When it fails it sounds likes it's going to go and then just dies... It always cranks over but seems like it doesn't get enough file to keep going.... Then all of a sudden it will be fine.

I have asked around and a couple of Guys and I have heard fuel pumps of around that vintage have had paint flaking issues on the inside of the fuel pump causing blockages....has anybody heard of that being a problem...?

Alternatively, if anybody has any advice on what might be going on it would be much appreciated... Even what to try to get me out of trouble when it happens..

Thanks,

Vincent

Hi !

Had a similar problem with one of our 250`s and I dicovered that the tether switch wasn`t making good contact (red cord below gear shift)

A buddy of mine had a switch in the gear shift that makes it easier to shift gears on their 250 go faulty.

I have had the exact same problem on my 350 mag.  When you try to start, you get nothing right?  If that is it, the main wiring harness where it plugs in on the back of the engine gets loose.  Just reach back and wiggle and snug it in and like magic it starts up.  You most likely will not even notice if it even moved when you snug it in but it works.  Hope that is it because the fix is free and easy.
