Our 342 was struck by lightning in September and we are currently replacing all that was damaged. We are having an issue getting the galley fridge out of the boat, as it won't fit out of the cabin doorway. No big deal, right? Just cut it up to get it out. Thought about that, and well, then how do we get the new one in???? We are at a complete loss. We've removed the fridge door, tried all angles, and are stumped. Am hoping someone has some experience with this and can direct us how to do it.
Thanks~

The fridge door has been removed, and the cabin door slides all the way open, leaving just the door frame so taking it out won't make a difference.

Sorry, skipped the part of the door. In the back of the fridge, can you remove more parts such as the cooling grill? Doesn't make sense that you cannot take it out. bat Is there that much of a differnce not to fit? Can't the fridge be repaired?

I don't know the boat or its construction, but in a house the next step to consider would be to remove the doorway trim and jam to enlarge the opening. Obviously this would only be considered if the item is just a little bit too large to go through and the removal would give you that little bit. I had to do that to replace the washer and dryer in my basement laundryroom about 17 years ago and I am sure that I will get to repeat that enjoyment some day soon as that is about the life span of such appliances.

cshell.

Just wondering if you ever got the fridge out of the cabin. I have the same boat
with no problems with the fridge but always nice to know what to do if I do
need to remove it.

Now that the subject is out there,  I will look at the dimensions of my fridge and ponder.  Maybe a stupid question but could the fridge possibly be removed thru the forward hatch?

This is a pretty common issue in all boats.  Usually the thing to do it to continue to remove parts off of the refrig till it fits through the door.  Some boats go as far as requiring the removal of an aft window to get larger items in and out.  I gotta think the doorway is large enough once the door and coils are removed.  Hope I don't have to replace my frig!

Saws-all the old one into halves and then remove it. The newer fridges are much smaller than the older ones and have way more room inside since the compressors are half the size now.

This reminds me of when I had to replace the fridge in my motor home. I had to remove a window
to get the old one out and get the new one in. What a PITA. Still woundering the out come
of this.
