I have a 1998 Rinker Fiesta Vee 242 with mercruiser 5.7 efi with bravo 3. I made a mistake and now it has costed me a ton of money and I am trying to get it backup and running. I have been gone for 8 months and i have come back to find my boat is still not running after having the engine rebuilt, rewired and ow I am being told the ECM is bad and the numbers on my engine do not match up to the ECM that is in the boat. When i turn the key i can hear the fuel pump start now but it is not pushing any gas. I am going to check all the lines but I am wondering if there is a in tank pump like in a car? If i cannot figure it out I plan on installing a electric fuel pump and carb it just to get back in the water. If anyone knows where I can get more info on what the process is I would greatly appreciate it. One other thing I have the serial number off my boat but amnot sure how they corelate on some of the part sites to get parts ie..new ECM... thank you all for any and all help... it is getting cold and I am really looking to go get my striper.... bang head

My recommendation is you get a boat mechanic that knows what they are doing!!!

Calm down,  you have a great motor and great system.  I seriously do not believe your ecm is bad.  They just don't fail.  Further more, the ecm is what turns on the fuel pump.
1st step is to verify fuel pressure,
2nd if no pressure present at fuel rail.  Temperarally install a test tank, ie outboard tank to the fuel inlet, located starboard front corner by fuel fuel filter,  Manually prime the system with the primmer bulb.
Test fuel pressure again, if still none present. I suspect a bad pump assy, or a clog in pump screen.
Good luck  Al

Being a mechanic.... The test that alswagg  said was dead on. Please start from there. There is no other place to really start. Keep us up to date.

clapping All is well in the Lewis household again. I researched andd researched but finally found the right ECM.  Got it in and within two turns of the engine the sweet roar of my brand new 5.7 v8 came to life for the first time in over two years. Got some cleaning to do and new upholstery getting done so as soon as the weather breaks and the days get longer i am going to be burning up alot of  gas....thanks forthe support... clapping
