Some of you have VP Neutra Salt Systems.  I do and have been using it everytime I shut down.  But does it really work?  I'd like your input on this product as it is very expensive.  $45 Gallon in my neck of the woods.  I tried Salt-A-Way but overtime it gummed up the sytem as it turns to jelly.

Do you think it's worth the money?
Do you think it works?

Thanks in advance,

I stopped using it...I found blue crystals and rust in the heat exchangers and risers....I now only flush the engines with fresh water after returning to he dock....

But keep the hoses connected properly, otherwise air can enter the cooling system and set off an overheat condition....don't ask me how I know.

That's what I have been thinking.  So I understand what your doing with the hose and fresh water rinse.  Doesn't the water pump still bring in the Saltwater... So in really your deluting the saltwater with fresh?

Try this with the boat in the water....flush with fresh water hose a idle for about 3-4 minutes.   Then open the rear manifold plug (either port or stbd)  and taste the water....it's fresh.

Sounds good.  I will give it a try.  So there's got to be an easier way to fresh water hook up without opening the hatch.  Has anyone seen a quick release system so all you do is plug and play with freshwater hook ups on the back of the boat.?  Sounds like a fun and effective project.  Maybe something as easy as less than $100.  Thoughts?

My boat has the Neutrasalt system but I never use it. Instead I put a 3/4" plastic ball valve in place of the blue "cap" on the flushing port. Attached the the ball valve is a female hose connector. I turn on the fresh water, bring the engine up to temp., about 5 mins. I shut off the engine and hose and add a couple of ounces of Salt Away and close the valve.
