Hi, I currently own a 2000 Rinker 270 and am thinking of moving up to a 2003 or newer to get the new and improved top side mold. My current boat has the mag 350 300 hp, and although initially sceptical power wise, it has proved to be a great package esspecially in the efficiency department.
I've seen one with the 496  8.1 litre engine in it. Can anyone comment on the pros and cons of that package? My concern would be both noise and it possible being a super gas hog??

I appreciate any advice you could share!

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Vitto and welcome!, I've got the 8.1 in my 2008 280ec. Love it, thank God it came with the boat. Not a gas hog BUT it all depends how you drive pirate

Welcome aboard.

I think most would agree to go with the larger engine.  As mentioned gas consumption depends on how you use it, but generally the larger engine will not work as hard for the same performance, and should not cost much (if any) more at that same performance.
