Have you bought the boat yet?... If not, why not buy one with the genny and AC. Just a thought.

I agree I'd first look for one with them both installed, there are a lot of good used boats out there.  But, if you are buying it anyhow, the air conditioner would not be real tough.  The worst would be putting the seacock in and running the line from the pump to the bow (the A/C sits under the V-berth).  The unit itself would be around $2k.

Installing the genny the right way would be some major cost.  I would think you would be over $5k.  I would think the port engine would need to be pulled first to install it as well.

The original post sounds like he DOES have a generator, but not an A/C...

Well, then you can ignore my second paragraph.  I don't believe it'd be too bad to add an A/C unit.  I just replace mine last year, but that was just replacement.  As I said, putting the hole in the bottom for the seacock would be the worst (probably the only thing I wouldn't be likely to do myself, but the rest is manageable).  Getting the line from the pump (which you'd put next to the seacock) to the bow might take a bit as well.  You'd also need two holes on the bow, port side, for condensation and the water that will be pumped thru.  Definitely worth doing since you have a genny and are in an area you would make use of it. thumbsup

i am considering replacing my ac now. it is 12 years old and is getting loud. my mechanic has told me the new replacements are more btu, use less energy, blow harder and are smaller in physical size. complete change out for me is around 2500-3k.
he also said to install in boat that does not have one would be more because of new wiring and hvac duct work plumbing for water etc.
Good luck. i imagine you are looking at between 2-5k for job depending on new or used and how much you can do yourself

Hatch air unit would also work, cheaper and portable.
