This will be the 1st winter that I have had with my 262 BR. I live in VA Beach VA where the winters are relatively mild. I keep my boat on a lift with a cover on it. Request  comments on disconnecting or taking dual batteries in for winter? If disconnecting batteries, taking u/w plug out so bilge can drain properly? Changing oil now or in Spring?
Draining all potable water out (running faucets etc.) replacing with RV antifreeze and leaving small amount in bilge? Fogging engine now or later? Removing prop and lubricating shaft now or later? Putting stern drive in fully down position to lessen stress on seal.? Topping off with full tank or 7/8 tank fuel and adding stabilizer? Energizing a drop lite in eng compartment on extremely cold nights (any fear of spark) with the eng cover down and boat  cover is installed?

I welcome all comments.

Thanks

I think I'd winterize the engines as well, never know when a noreastern might come up and knock power out.  I keep my boat on a lift about a 6 hr boat ride north of you.  (off subject, but we boated to VA beach this year and loved it)  I'd change the oil now in everything and do the works for winterizing.  I love to relax in the winter for those 4 months of not worrying about the boat.  I believe my winterization spreadsheet might be in the library as well, noting the order I do everything in and what I need a raft for due to being out on a lift.  I do top off with fuel and stabilize (7/8 tank is fine).  If you really want to not winterize then you should go with the proper heater made for the engine room.  & the plug, yes I take mine out each winter as well. thumbsup  Since you have your boat right there, cockpit cover would probably be fine since you can get to the boat.

Thanks for responding. I just winterized my boat this weekend. I just bought a home work 5X 8  float from Accudock
http://www.accudock.com/home-boat-work-floats.html. It works great for betting around the boat while it is on the lift.

That is the same float I use.  I am lucky enough to have someone on my pier (Doug, aka "Rinker342" on this site) let me use it whenever needed.  It sure makes it nice to do maintenance things around the boat.
