Though I'd start a thread and update it as I complete the work.  I'm replacing the stock audio system on my 2005 232 BR.  Here is the initial plan and equipment to be used.  [img]

Got some work done on the amp rack today, here's a couple of pictures.  Still waiting for the 8 gauge wire to show up.

Your system looks very much like mine.....running bow speakers off of the factory amp.  I am running JL amps for the 4 cockpit speakers and the sub and the same Polk speakers.  A Boston Pro Sub in a ported box.  What set up are you using on your sub? None of my stuff is marine rated.  No problems after 2 years.

I am adding another 4 channel amp to replace the bow amp and to power some speaker pods that I am mounting to the bimini.  I have two batteries and I didnt want just one after running the system all day long.
I like the Polks, but may be upgrading the cockpit/bow speakers to JL's to match the bimini speakers.

The only complaint i have is that closet where the amps are mounted is SOOOO small I can olny manage one arm in at a time.....the wiring is a mess, but may do a amp rack like yours with some easy connect system.  not sure yet.

Our lake is so low I may not be able to use the boat for a while anyway.

I've never used marine rated equipment on my boats either.  Way overpriced in relation to the normal car audio stuff.  I'm in the midwest so I don't have to contend with salt water.

The closet is very small and that's why I went with an amp rack.  That way I can work outside of there, make all my connections and then just push it back in and secure it.  I plan on using waterproof crimp connectors (the kind you heat up to seal) for my speaker connections and the 4 gauge power and ground will come through the amp rack into the distribution blocks.

I went back and forth on replacing the Planet Audio amp since it's only 35x2 but I figured I'd give it a chance with the Polks to see how they sound.

If you have any pictures of  your install could you forward them to me.  Another member on here, Roby, posted his and they have helped quite a bit in making decisions and getting some different ideas.

The sub was already there when I bought the boat, it's a 10" Alpine marine sub - free air.  It's mounted in the area where the cooler goes.

Got the 8 gauge wire ran.  Now all that's left is to run the 4 gauge through the rack, make all the connections and then mount it in the closet.  I'll post more pictures as I'm installing it.

Keep us posted.  How do you plan to mount the rack?  What is your rack made out of?
The only pic I have is of my sub box.  Just imagine a Rhino lined ported enclosure in the cooler area...pretty much it.

Rack is made of white acrylic that is supported on the back with 3/4" plywood.  A channel was cut through the plywood to allow the wires to pass through.  To mount it I will us a hole saw bit to cut a hole in the back center of where the rack mounts in and will secure it by screwing through the plywood into the closet backing.

Ended up going with the Optima Blue for the electronics battery.  After talking to some people and looking at the specs it seemed to be the best choice.  I mounted a 900 watt inverter, a Guest two bank battery charger and the battery isolator to the battery box.  In the pictures you'll see both battery banks from the charger are going to this battery but that will be changed once it's put in the boat.  Also in the pictures you'll see the 4 gauge in line fuses for the amplifiers.  I know I didn't need a fuse on the ground but using it was the easiest way to make the connections once placed in the boat.
