Where do you boat?

 Are you a River Rat, a Leisure Lake lover or do you prefer salt water?  Where do you like boating the most and why?

Always boat lakes. No costal waters near me. Never liked rivers. Clinton is closer.

Mostly Clinton Lake in Central IL- Nuclear power plant lake. NE side is always warm. NW is always cool. Any water temp you could want.

Also Lake of The Ozarks Missouri, Massive paty cove, poker runs, and bar hopping!!

Freshwater. Lake Norman, a nuke lake.

We will be hauling out and having the boat shipped to Florida this year and taking a trip over to the Bahamas.

Most of our boating now is divided between one of our 4 South Dakota reservoirs (Lakes) on the Missouri River and running the Missouri channel below the dams (between Sioux City, IA and Omaha, NE).  Either way, we're on the river that was once the trail of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.  Each has it's own enjoyable characteristics.  On the reservoirs (which are 90 miles long), we can just get away from people.  On the river, there's always a party somehwere.  So it just depends on what mood we're in when we hook up to the boat to go somewhere.

We take ours mostly on lake Erie and the Thousand Islands but also trailer to inland lakes and would like to see some of the Ohio River.

We spend nearly every weekend through the summer at one of the Corps of Engineers lakes close to home (5 to 20 Miles here).  Perry Lake near Topeka is a great size lake - about 25,000 acres and has a great mix of overnighters, house boats, sail boats and of course pleasure boats.  About once a month we head down to Lake of the Ozarks.  I agree with others that this is a rough lake in areas (especaially around party cove and Osage Beach).  The good news is that with a lake that size there are always areas of calm water.  On weekdays the entire lake is great, on weekends however we find ourselves spending time on the upper osage arm (mile marker 31 to about 60) and the Niagua arms.  Anyone else spend much time at Lake of the Ozarks?

We have a choice of 4 lakes within 1 hour of our home but prefer Seneca Lake .  A few years ago we had a camper in the camp ground on a water front lot.  Tired of the same spot after 8 years we sold it and decided to trailer for a few years.  Well after 2 years and not much boating because trailering didn't suite our style we will be docking the boat this summer back at Seneca Lake.  That's Seneca Lake in Ohio pretty much due east of Columbus about 75 miles.

Excellent! We lived in Columbus until 2 years ago and were only a mile from the 'shoe. Miss a lot of things about Ohio, but not the weather

Well, gee.... I guess .... all of the above.....

We boat on the large Lk Winnipesaukee, 55,000 acres. See the last page (Red, Right, Return) of the April '06 issue of Boating.  As well as, a couple other inland lakes right near by ... and travel to Champlain ... or will travel to new horizons (err... lakes).

We boat on the Piscataqua River, Great Bay and Portsmouth harbor.

We go from the harbor ..... out to sea.

I boat inland lakes and rivers.  About the closest I get to an ocean would be Lake Michigan.  With several ramps within an hour of me I mostly boat Lake Michigan.
