We are lake boaters,,  Mostly Lake Hopatcong New Jersey...  However we take the boat on vacation or better it is our vacation entertainment...

For the last 2 summers and again this coming summer we will be spending a week long vacation Deep Creek Lake,, Maryland..  We rent a lake front high end house with private dock and go boating every day...

Family and friends come and we have had as much as 15 bodys sleeping all over the house...

If you are looking for a beautiful lake boating type vacation check out Deep Creek... cool

Lake Allatoona - Woodstock, GA.  Although after two years of waiting for the housing market to turn around; my boss has mandated me to move to NC by years end.  So, I will be going up to Lake Norman - Mooresville, NC. Monday to look for housing and check the lake as much as possible from shore to marinas.  Any advice out there?  huh
Oh yeah, we did take her to the TN river this year and trek up and down a portion of it for a long weekend - very cool!

We love the saltwater but we find ourselves living in St Louis so... ITS LAKE OF THE OZARKS for us.  Plenty of people or peace and quiet; whatever mood you are in.  Oh yeah, the bars don't suck either!

Muskegon River Hardy Pond for the wife and I!
Launch at Browers Park and shoot 7 miles downstream to Consumers Beach or Redneck Yacht Club.
We take a boat load of friends and my lil' bro brings his Bayliner too.  We fill up the cooler with beverages and relax in the sun.   shades  It's 5:00 somewhere!

Love to get up to Traverse Bay and the Elk and Torch chain as well!  The clearest, bluest water in the world!  How lucky we are!!!

Every spring break finds us in Guntersville Alabama though, chasing those green fish on the Blazer!

Most of our boating is done on the Mississippi river and the Illinois river.  We do take an annual week long trip to Lake of the Ozarks 60MM and took another week trip to Bull Shoals.  Bull Shoals is the most overlooked lake there is.  Beautiful, clear and deep.  Not many big boats just runabouts and ski boats.  The wakeboarders are pretty prevalent there and fun to try and imitate.....Ouch!

Mostly on the Suwannee and Sante Fe Rivers here in FL. Occasionally we make a trip to some of the lakes south of us.  And about once a month we head to St. Augustine to do some "big water" fun.

Hi,

I'm really envious of you guys with huge lakes and clear warm waters to play on. Here in South Wales I have either Cardiff Bay which is an area of freswater made by a barrage across the mouths of the rivers Ely and Taff arond the infamous Tiger Bay.  This is accessible at all times but skiing, wakeboards and donuts are not currently allowed.  Or I have the Bristol channel on my doorstep which at this end is muddy and has a spring tide of 14 metres to contend with.
But less than 100 miles away is beautiful Pembrokeshire in West Wales with clear waters lovely harbours and one of the largest natural harbours in the world at Milford Haven.  The only downside is the unpredictable weather, but we can't have it all can we.

Nevermind Wales are playing the New Zealand 'All Blacks' at rugby tomorrow (Sat) so any Welsh ex pats across the pond who read this forum, I'll think of you as I eat a Clarkes pie and sink a pint of Brains whilst watching Wales getting stuffed as usual.

Regards from the land of song.

In the currently very cold salt water off the south coast of the UK (Brighton). Constantly hoping for the wind to switch round to the North and the ground swell to disappear. Doesnt happen too much but enough to be fun  grin

Land locked in Nebraska on Lake McCounghy. 20 miles and 4 miles across, when it's full. White sandy beach all the way around.

Is it time to go boating yet?

Mostly Lake Monroe, in Bloomington, IN.  Simply because it is closest to us. Also, the Ohio River, Dale Hollow Lake (KY, TN) , Lake Cumberland (KY), and the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan and Lake Erie.  We do a lot of trailering throughout the year.  All the trips are favorites, hanging out at Put In Bay on Erie and Cedar Point amusement park. Then relaxing on the houseboat at Dale Hollow and Cumberland.
