Winterizing the holding tank
«

I get a real BAD smell from the holding tank in the spring (yes Ray I do pump out). A Fellow boater said to put a couple cups of bleach in the tank when winterizing. Does anybody else put anything in the holding tank for the winter?

I run a gallon of vinegar in the tank that gets the smell out guess you could let it set in the tank all winter just chase it with the pink stuff so the hose is protected.

I'm afraid of bleach because I'm not sure what it will do to the seals and gaskets. I use the deordorizer after each pump out, so I put some in after the last pump out for the season, then add the antifreeze. The Sealand product is strong stuff and won't freeze.

Ditto what Doug said.
Although I think vinegar would be ok as well.
