Hi,

I was wondering what everyone does to their fresh water tanks to keep them clean/non-smelly.

I don't plan on drinking from the fresh water tanks, just showers and washing dishes etc.

The best/easiest option I've heard so far was somebody told me to put a very small portion of chlorine into the tank... maybe half as much as the ratio a pool calls for.  They said that since they've done this they've never had a problem and the chlorine doesn't smell as long as you put a very small amount in each time you fill the tank.  I think I've also heard of putting in a very very small amount of bleach... not sure about that one though.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

We added inline filters to make all the water drinkable. Not expensive to do, and well worth the while. I does mean changing filters quite a bit (at least where we boat) but, since we boat with dogs, it makes keeping them cool much simpler.

I have always put a small amount of bleach into the tank. I can not remember the exact ratio but it is small and does not smell at all. The mixing ratio i found was on a bottle of bleach.
