Repairs to upholstery

I have a 262 Captiva BR. I have noticed several areas on my seat cushions where the threads seem to be separating....other than reupholstering and sewing....has anyone got any temp fixes that have worked? Or material that can be used to patch small areas.
I don't want the repair to look cheap, but want to do something to arrest the seam starting to spread.

Also I have found that using soft scrub (cheaper than other cleaners) works well to remove stains on upholstery, providing you rinse it off shortly there after. Any other suggestions for cleaning upholstery would be welcome.

I have had success with professional repairs only.  I tried several DIY fixes and one "professional" repair before I found a good repair facility that could fix a tear right next to the binding.  It looks great now, so I had him do other small repairs and all turned out nicely.  The trick, of course, is finding one in your neck of the woods.  Mine is the the Annapolis area.

Thanks for the tip about Soft Scrub.  I have a couple of stains I plan to tackle this weekend.

I might have to try the soft scrub as well.  I have a couple spots that it seems nothing will get it out (yes, including magic eraser).

I use a product called Goof off. I watch someone take elevator grease off a white carpet and I was sold. You can buy it at places like Home Depot. Recently my dog had barfed on our leather sofa and nothing would take it off. I remembered I had this stuff and it worked right away when all the leather cleaners wouldn't do a thing.

There are many posts and rumors Rinker doesnt stitch it seams well or double seam them. There is no cheap fix without looking poor, take the seat out and have it fixed right the first time. I have had a few of mine done on my 232.

I too am experiencing some upholstery issues in my 2007 246. Besides a tear in the sundeck in a seam, I've found some separation in the blue decorative seam in the cushions. Professional is the only way to go for the fix. My captains chair has a seam sown into the chair. That mistake should have never left the Rinker factory.

Yup had a seem split this year my self.  I brought it inot the upolstery shop and they showed me how loose all the stiching was in the cushion.  They fixed is up nice but I have a feeling this is just going to become one of those anual repairs untilll all the seems are redone.

I had Rinker replace all of the interior vinyl on our '08 246 as nearly all of the seams were tearing. The vinyl used is supple and comfortable but too soft and stretches/tears at the seams. They've replaced the sundeck twice and the latest has lasted nearly two years before it too has torn. Of course I have 300+ hours on it hauling a boat load of kids and a Golden Retriever. Needless to say they are not easy on anything in the boat. If they could, they'd be diving off the wake tower!!

Soft Scrub is fine on "old" vinyl but i sure wouldn't use the chlorine product on the vinyl in my new boat. Try RV Black Streak remover instead. Works great getting Cheetoos, Doritos and BBQ chips finger prints off the white vinyl! Even grape soda!
