320 2006 Life's Good - OCEAN X!

« on: October 02, 2011, 09:54:15 PM »

Three weeks still on the hard but now moving foward... As much as I have tried to keep my XDP's working....  I am done and the Monkey is soon to be of my back!  I am ordering two new Ocean X's.  I hope to have the conversion done by mid November...

I am so pumped!

I can't wait to get in the bilge and give her a complete deep clean while the engines are out!   grin

I will take plenty of pictures and share!

Stay Tuned,

I'm I being too personal by asking how much $ for the whole replacement  huh since it's sounding more and more like a good idea and a necessary evil.  bang head

I saw something yesterday that was stating that they started at about $3k for the drive only. Doesn't seem all that bad but I guess the labor will be the issue.

I think its allot more than that.  The rumors on where Volvo settled with someone was ~$17K for 2 drives/transom housings.  Plus ~$4K to install them if you get a cheap mechanic.

if they were 3K only I would do it.  But I believe the engines have to come out the swap out the transom housings as well.

$21K into a 7 year old boat that is worth maybe 3 times more than that - No thanks.

It's a little more than 2,990.00, you'll need new transom plates & y tubes along with some small parts, and thats not including the labor to pull both motors.

NJTOW, I exchanged my drive's and it's the best thing ever happen to the boat.  Planes easier, fuel mileage is better, performs better and top end is faster.  The drives are better all around.  I pulled the boat last week with 40 hrs on the the drive's to check everything and they were perfect.  You will love the new drive's.   Good luck with your's.

Mustard, your 100% right I lost 3/4 of the season last year. Drives done over the winter. Boat never ran so good. Maneuvers in tight spaces better then when the XDP's were new. Boat planes super fast & picked up a few MPH's to boot. Thanks and best of luck with yours also,

Is Volvo giving any warranty on these new drives/transom housings?  Or do you just spend $20K+ and hope they work in a year?
