Did this job on Saturday. Everything worked out ok but was very hard to get at the pumps. My boat has a genny right at the perfect spot to sit and do this. Takes a lot of patience. The old impellors were in terrible shape i am surprised i made it through the season. New boat bang head to me this year so i will be sure to change them regularly. Pedro. ps Sunday morning i woke up with stiff knees, back, shoulders.

You won't be complaining about the genny when you need to change the impeller in it.  Believe me, on mine it is on the port side, a real bear to get at.  & you do it all in the blind.  I'm sure that is why it is now in the middle on your model.  As far as the water impeller, did you remove the entire pump, and then change the impeller.  If not, you may want to do that next time.  It is a lot easier than messing with it in position.  (& a tip, lube the hoses before putting back on and it will slip right on thumbsup)

I always pop some ibuprofen after working on the boat cause I know I'll be sore the next day! bang head  glad you got it all changed.  (may want to do the genny as well)...another hint in all this for next time, you may want to wait until spring, gives it less time, once, not sitting for months all binded up.

The Genny in my 320 is easy to work on. The water pump is right in the side of the unit facing the batteries that are in the middle of the boat. I agree with Dream's comment, taking the pumps off is the way to go. However, do not under any circumstance use the quick connects on the intake hoses. They come apart easily, getting back is another story. The trick I use, disconnect the pump from the engine first and then undo the intake hoses at the clamps. Reverse for installation.

When i was pulling the boat around to the lift i thought i noticed a small squeek in the port engine. Once on blocks after changind the oil and filter the noise was louder. At first i thought maybe the new oil filter was restricted. After changing the oil filter the noise got louder. It almost sounded like a main bearing. After letting the engine cool it was slow to start and made a loud screetching noise. I imediatly turned it off and pulled off the belt . All accessories were fine but the impellor pulley was stiff.I was planning on replacing them next spring but i still had to fog my engines so that is why i did them now. Pedro

Makes perfect sense to me Pedro.  You've gotta do what you need to for winterizing.  Now you won't have to in the spring. And the next time around, in 2 years, you can just wait a bit more until spring. thumbsup

I've been having a little isse with a sqealing noise every now and then after sitting for a bit.  I found it to be the alternator.  Seems like it has a little rough spot to turn after sitting.  Probably going to need to do something in the spring.

Sorry, forgot to answer your question. I removed the complete port pump because i wanted to inspect the rear part of the housing. On the starboard i just removed the front part, i found this to be easier. One thing that did help was using a 10 mm box end swivel ratcheting wrench. This fit in well behind the pump and made it easy to get screws on and off. I also used vasalene in the groove of the pump and then pushed the oring into the groove. There was no problem with the oring falling off as it was set in the vasalene. Pedro
