I have a 1995 Fiesta Vee with a 5.7 liter Mercruiser (Carb).  When I originally start the engine I have a good idle and everything is fine.  After cruising for a while and I'm going to dock, when I shift forward & reverse the idle then is so low that the engine eventually stops and usually at the worst time.  I'm assuming my idle is set too low.  When I start the cruise the choke is on boosting the idle speed but after the cruise it is not. I read that the idle should be at 800.   Can anyone give me some advice on this issue and the exact location of the adjustment screw.

I will have to take a look again at where the adjustment is, but we have pretty much the same boat.  I had that issue after I tuned her up.  My idle sits around 820 but thats with engine warm.  One thing to keep in mind is the dwell and making sure it is exact.  I had one degree off and had all sorts of issues with idle.  Clean cap and rotor and a good dwell and you should be running good.  I'm heading to the boat in the morning so I will take a look.

PM me if you don't hear from me.  I have to fix the trailer, get all the gear off the boat, and start changing the fluids over.  So I might forget.
