this tab broke off. i didn't do it, but i'll tell you what, it's not in a great location... easy to hit if you're in the engine compartment.

can anyone help me try to fix this (idiot's guide) so i don't have to buy a new one?

If you can't find a replacement for the part that broke, then try opening the plastic with a razor.  Expose the broken tab inside.  Tape off everything around the hole and see if you can get some hot solder to melt into the hole and make contact.  Slowly build up the area with solder.  Then when you have enough base, solder the wire to the base.  Then seal it with clear caulking to keep water off of it.

Be sure the solder is only touching the area that broke so you don't short the motor when you turn it back on.
