can someone help me find one of these? (part # and/or place to get it) the one on the other side rusted out and broke off. it holds the shock absorber looking thing that holds the engine lid up. can i just replace the nipple part or do i need the bracket too?

Try this site.  It's a good start and you may find something that will work.  I think you could drill out the old stud and screw in a new one.  http://www.autopartsbylou.com/
