I have a 2002 232 BR.  I plan on getting trim tabs in the next couple weeks and install them before I winterize.  I am wondering if there is a safe way to jack up the back end of the boat off the trailer so I can install the tabs.  Like one poster earlier mentioned, the trailer boards extend beyond the back of the boat and make it very difficult to install the tabs.  Just getting the boat up a foot off the trailer boards would be very beneficial.

With all due respect intended...  If you have to ask that question then you better let someone who knows better handle it.

I would suggest taking the boat off the trailer and cutting the bunk boards down.  That is what I am doing.  I didnt want to take the chance of the tabs not retracting and being crunched by the bunks as I pull the boat out of the water.  If you don't get that auto retract one there is a pretty good chance of that.

That`s good advice since you seem to want to keep the boat for a while. Modify the bucks( as suggested) just so that it clears. Easier than jacking up the side.

Do keep  in mind that the bunks must extend past the transom for proper hull support.

You will be fine by triming the excess bunks.  The hull bottom is exteamly strong on a 232.  Tabs on a 232 are great.  Are you using the Rinker spec version or the standard?  Rinker spec has the "wings" down.  These supply much more lift on the stern than the Lenco original design.  Al

I backed up the bow stop about a foot to get the boat further back on the trailer.  Worked well for me, but I have a short and relatively smooth trip home from the lake, might not be the best solution for all.  After moving it back to original spot, I did forget to raise my tabs one day, fortunately no problems as they held the hull up off the bunks.  Got back in the water fast and raised them.  Now have the tab indicator switch which raises them automatically....  Good investment  thumbsup

I installed them with the bunk boards. In fact they actually helped me when it came to position the end of the tab 1 inch higher than parallel with hull. I rested the end of the tab on a roll of electrical tape when mounting the actuator to the transom as directed by Lenco. Also a tip; I found it to be easier to use hex headed screws to mount in the transom rather than the phillips head screws. Round out a phillips head here and you are going to be hating life.

Where can I purchase the "Rinker spec" tabs? I may tackle this project this winter.

You can call Lenco and buy direct, Specify "Rinker Spec" tabs, "Wings Down".  They provide greater lift by far.  Al

I am in the process of installing some trim tabs on my 2005 232BR.

Some advice/hints/tips

I tried getting the Rinker spec tabs from Lenco...the person I talked from Lenco to had no idea if they still made them or had them, but I didnt get very far because the price was considerably more than what I found the regular ones for on line. I would opt for the switch with the auto retract.

I am mounting them "wings down" using some 3/8" or so shims that I made from a cheap Nylon cutting board from Walmart.  Just traced and cut them with a jig saw. I tried to knock out the pin from the piano hinge so i could flip the tabs over, but it seems that they have crimped the hinge to make sure the pin won't come out and I just ended up jacking the pin up so I stopped and just made the shims.

On my 2005, where the top of the ram mounts to the boat, is a funky angle and has a radius to it.  I called Rinker, and orderd the shims for the top of the rams.  $15/ea plus shipping, but figured it would save me some time and not have to make them.  It turns out that Lenco changed the mount for the top of the ram, so they don't fit, so it looks like I will be making them after all.  If any body finds the "Rinker Spec" tabs and needs the shims, I have them.

Just to let everyone know, it is not necessary to get the Rinker spec Lenco tabs with the wings down. I have normal Lenco 12x12 tabs (wings up) and they work fantastic. They do exactly what they are supposed to do and do a wonderful job at it. Pay more for the wings down tabs if you want but it is not necessary for the 232,
