Hi All,

Have been reading all the steering posts trying to figure out my own steering
dilema..
I have 04 FV270 with B3 350 mag mpi...the steering wheel play while underway
at slow speeds continuosly has to turned be from right to left....I realize that boats steer this
way at lower speeds, but mine is crazy...its even hard to keep a straight course...no problems
when I'm up on plane...even at low speeds, I have to turn the wheel approx 1/8th of a turn before
the stern responds....have checked the power steering pump..fluid ok.. no leaks..pistons
appear to be moving properly...so thinking its the cable or the rack....

Anybody deal with replacing the rack or cable on this?
THoughts and comments please.

Thanks

That"s too funny I just posted the same think , yesterday or the day before, and the funny thing is i am i think 18 slips down from you (d20) green canvas. I have a 1999 FV270 with the same issues, as babyboomer  suggested check my thread (eurojet) he provided great links, I am hoping I dont need a gimble ring cause that is way too much money, going to check for play and check the bolts people are talkiong about

Thanks babyboomer for info....Don't think it's the gimbal ring...I'm thinking
it's part of the worm gear worn in the rack..have to wait unitl its out of the water
to really inspect everything....

Eurojet...what a small world!....welcome to cruiser class..and yes I'm in slip D4 at the HRM.
Drop by sometime and I'll show you all my mods.
Cheers
