i have a high five prop and was wondering about the five plastic plugs... why and when would you have a need to remove them, and do you remove all or some and what determines how many?

Read somewhere that the vent holes were mainly used for outboard use. Opening them allows the engine to reach higher rpm quicker as exhaust gases are released into the prop blades. OB engines reach their power band at higher rpm. Once the boat accelerates, the water moving over the vents becomes so great it seals the vents, ultimately stopping the flow of exhaust gases through the vent holes.
