Okay, I could use some advice from the experts.  I'm probably making this task seem way more difficult than it actually is, but here it goes...  Our 1997 Captiva 212 BR has one cleat on the bow, and one on each side of the stern facing the swim platform.  When docking, it seems as if the only place I can tie the fender to make it effective, is to the handrail inside the boat.  The cleats are too far forward and aft, and I assume they are intended to be used for mooring ropes.  So, as dumb as it may sound, how do y'all hang your fenders when cleats are not in the most opportune locations?

Thanks,
Nate

Same on my 232, I tie them just the right length on the inside hand rail and toss them out.

On our 232 have the same cleat setup.  We have some plastic fender holders that have 3 holes in them to string your fender line through to get the right height and then they clip over the windshield.  Am able to clip one all the way back on the side glass and the other up real close to the front of the side glass.  Puts the fenders in a great place, really easy to set up and use.  I think I got them at west marine but think I have seen them in the overton's catalog as well.

On my 342 I use 3 small cleats that I put on my dock and hang my fenders on them. Every time I go out I do not have to play around with fenders. I have 3 spares on the back fender rack in case I want to stop somewhere. This works very well and I never have to play with them......

On my bowrider I had the same set up as you. I wanted dedicated cleats for bumpers so I installed 3 bumber cleats (small plastic cleats made for bumper ropes to easily slip on) on each side. It has made putting bumpers on and off so easy and quick.

I have some of those little adjustable clips on the ends of my fenders, and clip them into the eyelets where the bimini top clips.  I have one just in front of the windshield, and one at the side of the rear deck.  Simple to clip them on, and easy to adjust if I need to change the hight.

Check out the Perko Fender Locks, they are fantastic!  Mine are about 6 years old and still look new.  I keep the eye attached to my fender line so they stay the perfect length front or back.

I use these on my 260.  http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=33751&pdesc=Taylor_Made_Tidy_Ups_Fender_Adjuster_Kit&aID=602B2&merchID=4006

Work really well and easy to get off when underway.
