Hey folks,  Looking for a little help.  Was out last week and after I came off plane my lower unit wouldn't trim back down.  After trying for a few minutes it seemed to work normally.  Had the same problem today when I unloaded it off the trailer.  I shut off the blower and could hear the conection being made at the pump.  Just took 5 minutes for it to actually kick in.  After we got going it seemed to trim up and down normally.  Havnt' had any issues going up, only down.  I'm not sure if I just need to clean the conections or if the pump is going out.  Anyone else had something similar happen?  Any help would be appreicated.  Its a 2000 232 with the 7.4L Bravo 3.  Thanks

Sounds like it could be a solenoid at the pump.  When you push the button, you hear just a click at the pump, but the pump doesn't run right?  If so, it's either a solenoid, or loose/corroded connection right there.

Thanks,  do you know if the solenoid is a something I'm going to be able to find at a auto parts store or do you think I'll have to order it someplace?  Is there only one on the pump?

You won't find it at an autoparts store I don't think.  There are two on the pump assembly, one is for raising, the other for lowering.  Look at your trim pump and where all of the wires go.  The two devices that have all the wires is the solenoid.  A buddy just bought a boat that had been setting for a couple of years and it takes 2-3 pushes before it moves either way.  It is getting better with more use so it could just be corrosion.  If yours has been used regularly, it may just have a bad spot.  I'm not sure where to get just the solenoid, but it should be a fairly easy fix once you get one.

You also could give it a little tap with a hammer.  I had the same issue at the beginning of the spring and so far so good. thumbsup
