Hey RBO folks, I have a 97 232 in mint condition with a 454 b3 and am looking to go a little bigger. I found a 2000 272 CC with a 502 EFI Mag and B3 in good shape, captains choice exhaust and new outdrive and fresh water sea pump, triple axle Eagle trailer. Boat has been use donly in colorado. Will the 272 with the b3 run 50-55 and is the 502 enough engine. Is the 502 a reliable engine?Owner is asking $25,900.00. I really like the seating in the 232 and the 272 looks similar I havent looked at it yet, wating for more pictures this weekend. If you 272 owners can chime in with any advice on power and other thoughts I would apreciate it.

Great boat, but I dought you will see 50 mph. The 502 is a good motor, basically a strocked and bored 454. Can you post a photo of the boat and trailer? Find out what gears and props are on the boat and I can predict by percent of slippage your top speed. Al

The guy lives a ways from me so i want to see more before I go up there. Here is the link to the boat on C/L
sale-ufdun-2510525047@craigslist.org
you have to cut and paste it into your browser. Hopefully I will get the info this week end. I asked exactly the same things you did. I want pictures of props, gear ratio, hull inside and out etc. etc. Thanks Al

I cant figure out posting pictures, I will try later I took a bunch. Getting engine hours scanned later this week. I would love to email you photos if you would look at them. From what I under stand the boat was used mainly at Powell. 502 MPI 497.6 hours Bravo three ratio 2.10-1.0?? 26P props. Trim Tabs captians call exhaust factory extended swim plattform, shore power, dual batts. Sold new at Eastside Marine in Evansville Indiana. Boat name is "Good Stuff" Outdrive 544I600R1 s/n 0w965793 USRNK60722J800 yacht certified I guess. I cant beleive how much bigger this is than my 232. Tripple axle trailer with surge brakes on all 6 wheels. Full canvas enclosure. bimini top and cockpit cover. Gel coat is rubbed to the glass on bottom for about 36 inches right on the bottom as if it were beached frequently. Current owner just bought it this spring from an auction and last owner apparently past away and bank repoed it. What is it worth? I wonder if I called selling dealer if I could actually get any history or maintenance records. If anybody knows this boat or can help me gather any information cool. I will try to get pictures on here tonight. Gene

I am nervous about jumping up the a 27 from 23 and the more expenses involved on a 502 efi vs a 454 , just being cautious, I also found out it has almost 500 hours on it. How long will a properly maintained 502 last? I dont want to buy a 25,000.00 dollar boat and have a engine problem a year later.

Those are the high altitude gears I run in my B3. What altitude will you be running at?

Lake McConaughy in Nebraska, about 3200' my 232 has 24p so the 26 p should get a better hole shot for a heavier boat right.

If you want a better hole shot you want to go down in pitch, not up. Going up will give you better top end in theory.

Couple quick comments.
It was probably bought in '99', so has averaged 40 hrs per year? Likely a bit less hours than average.
As far as the 502 motor....that is just a bored/stroked 454. So your maintenance expenses shouldn't change much at all. I wouldn't worry about major engine issues till 1,000 hrs.
Just my 2 cents. Good looking boat.

Thanks for the comments so far. The guy is letting me take it to my mechanic who has serviced my Rinker for the last 12 years to inspect everything top to bottom. I'll let you know how it shakes down, may be putting my 232 Cuddy on the market any day, I am the original owner and have pamperd it from day one, just sayin.
