Can't afford to have techs anymore so I need to change the fuel filter.

Do I have to release pressure before I change it?  I know I do in my car.

Also, the canister type will leak so I need to remove it in a plastic bag?

I have an '05 5.0L Volvo GL with efi and I don't have the Fuel System Manual the Engine manual refers to, of course.

Just unscrew it and keep it up right so it doesn't spill, pour it in a clear glass or plastic jar or bottle and let it settle to see if you have any water, don't fotget to lube the new filter before you install.

Thanks Boomer.  I didn't think about the jar for the water content.  Good tip!  I was going to unscrew it with a plastic bag encompassing it to avoid spilling to much into the bilge.  I wasn't sure about the pressure though.  It surprises me because car EFI's usually have residual pressure.
