Hi there

I have a 2006 250 EC and we keep it in a boatel at our marina. Each day when we finish using it we hook up the fresh water hose to the engine flush connector on the transom. I was told that by doing this the engine automatically uses freshwater instead of seawater to cool it and clean it through.

At the weekend i had it on a rack and was flushing it through and someone told me that i need to plug the seawater intake holes if it out of the water as otherwise i will burn out the water pump.

Can any tell me if this is true or not and how long we should flush it for?

Thanks

that's a good possiblity depending on the setup.  More than likely you just have "T" connected in-line to your seawater pump.  Easiest way to find out is to turn the water on your connection while out of water and see if it drains out the bottom of your outdrive (where the intake for water is).  You may be fine even if it does, but I would say it would also suck air in as well, which you don't want.

Typically flushing would be a few minutes. thumbsup
