I was boating the other day at powell and for some reason my trim "up" stopped working,  "down" and "trailer" work just fine.

any ideas?

could be the solenoid.  There is a separate solenoid for both up and down.  I'd try tapping it with a hammer first. thumbsup

Sounds more like your trim limit switch is either out of adjustment or not working all together.  If it goes up with the trailer switch, the solenoid is fine.  The trailer switch overrides the trim limit switch.

If it's a Merc Alpha (or Bravo AFAIK). it's the black puck on the left sterndrive pivot point. You will see the words TRIM LIMIT on it.  The one on the right side is for your trim gauge.

with the drive down loosen the retaining screws on the limit switch and turn the switch clock-wise & counter clockwise as far as it will go. try pushing the up button while the limiter switch is in both positions. if it works then the switch just needs adjustment. if it doesn't then most likely it is the limiter switch needs replacing, less likely you have a bad contacts in the up button on your control
