Have you checked with boat dealers in your area?   In some of the boating magazines I get there are trailer manufacturers, I wonder if any of them take used ones in on trade?

I was always told that finding good used trailers is close to impossible.  I bought my 232 B/R new last summer without a trailer to save a few dollars.  I figured that I could find a used one.  I put out want ads and called all of my local dealers and had no luck.  I ended up buying a new one.  Good luck.

follow up...

Unbelievable; I finally found (after 16 months of looking) a nice used trailer for my 2000 242 FV. All aluminum Float-on 22-25 ft. for 7000Lbs capacity. $1600 out the door and needs very little to make it perfect. In Indiana of ocurse... :D
Totally worth the 2 hour drive. Thanks for keeping your eyes open. Now onto 'other' waters...

Hey Hank,

When I looked around here (northern illinois), the average 24 ft, tandem trailer w/ brakes for 6000lbs was "about" $3500 to $4000. Most places didn't even carry any, and the ones I saw were on their last leg. The used market is super hot for used trailers (especially tandem).
My seller claimed that retail value on the Float-On , all aluminum, tandem axle w/ disk brakes I bought retailed originally for $7000.
(BS?, maybe...but I know I looked for over a year with no luck)
With all repairs and brought to 'new' condition, it'll be $2100.
thoughts?

Our trailer for our 270 needs work.  The spindles on both axles are bent just due to wear and long miles.  I have it in a trailer shop being repaired this month.

I did call a dealer to check on the price of a new one.....$6800!  THat is pricy...I had no idea they would be so expensive.  That lead me to take this one in to be repaired.  They need to replaced both axles.

Hey guys,

$6800, while way too expensive, seems par for the course based on my long research. Crazy!
Good job fixing yours!

I received the estimate yesterday afternoon.  They found that the trailer only needs one axle, not two.  They will also check the braking system & components and repair as needed, R&R hubs & bearings, check trailer alignment, weld up the fenders.....no more that $600.  I'm happy with that!
