jut bought my rinker 226. how do you open the engine compartment, need to turn on the battery

Sounds like the pull loop just aft of the rear seat slipped below the hatch cover.  From the forward edge at the walk-through, grab the sunpad and gently lift.  Once you get it up a few inches, you will see the black strap in the middle.  It is a PITA sometimes.
