How do I find a pic or diagram for a 1995 Mercruiser 4.3 V6, belonging to the Rinker Captiva 190 ? I have the Mercruiser manual but the dilemma I am having is not remembering where to attach the brackets on the intake manifold. The manual does not show where the attachments go on the motor but just an overview ot the motor itself. I replaced the head gaskets, torque the bolts, installed the distributor but now I am stuck trying to figure out where the intake manifold bolts w/ the brackets go??? It would be greatly appreciated if someone happened to have the same motor as well as a pic they could send me or I will settle with a source to obtain the info. I should have took a pic or not waited so long before deciding to put it back together...any help would be great! huh

I have a 97 182 with the 4.3L.  I don't know if they are the same as in 95, but what brackets are you talking about that you need pics of?

Thanks for the replies...

Babyboomer, I have spent endless hours researching a 1995 4.3 V6 on the internet but it does not specify where to mount the attachments to the intake manifold. I apologize to referring to them as attachments but I believe they are just two “hooks” that get bolted to the intake manifold to hoist out the motor. I kind of figured that they need to be opposite of each other but I was not certain if it mattered where I bolted them to the intake. Also, I thought that even though all Mercruiser 4.3, V6’ have the same basic setup, the positioning of the attached components; oil reservoir, oil filter, alternator, etc, would be placed differently on separate makes and models???? If not, sorry for posting a pointless thread, I had the answer in front of me the whole time.

Kleake, I was just hoping to have a picture of the motor, minus the air filter (gets in the way), for my own assurance, while piecing this puzzle(motor) back together. LOL, I spent 2 hours breaking the motor down into labeled, plastic baggies and have spent two days trying to figure out where the brackets that attach to the motor go.

Last question, hypothetically, if I did not properly mark the distributor before I removed it, to access the rest of the motor and I put the distributor back and have problems with the motor firing, can I simply adjust it with timing light? What if it is so out of line that it will not fire, am I screwed ???? pray

Sorry if these questions sound foolish or plain out ignorant but I am trying to save a fortune on mechanic bills and also want to learn the basics of the motor in case I have further issues. I don’t want anyone to think that I am being lazy because I promise that I have been through my mercruiser manual as well as the internet to find out where I need to attach the random brackets that get mounted to the motor to hold the accessories.

Again, thanks for the advice and sorry for the book, I am new to this forum and to be honest, new to any forum.

well as for the distributor, the best way to get it close is, to make sure the engine is at top dead center, then while you're putting the distributor in the rotor turns, make sure it will point to number 1 piston and you'll be close enough to fine tune it in. then adjust to your degrees before top dead center.( i think it's around 8 to 10 but not sure) if it has electronic same thing goes except there is a wire at the distributor you have to disconnect, set it , then plug back in and the computer takes over.

If my plan goes right, I'll try to get a picture of the top of mine tomorrow evening after work.  Gotta do a couple of other things while I'm in there.

Sorry it took me so long, but here is some pictures of the top of mine.  They are large!  I thought about shrinking them, but figured it would be hard to see what you are looking for...  So they may take a bit to load.
