My 2007 246 has the extended sundpad option that flips up to allow access to the walk-thru. I was wondering if anyone has found away to lock the sunpad open so it can't be pushed over onto the fiberglass edge on the walk-thru??  Unfortunately, my walk-thru fiberglass was damaged when I bought my boat last year from the metal support leg bashing against the fiberglass when the sunpad extension is inadvertently pushed over.

This seems like a design flaw to me, because the metal support leg can make hard contact with the fiberglass without too much effort, as it doesn't take much for the sunpad to tip over. Any newer 226/246 owners have this option and does anyone know if Rinker has done anything to change the hinge configuration to lock the pad open when the walk-thru is exposed? Unfortunately there isn't a Rinker dealer in the DFW area to ask this question, so I thought I would pose it to the board.

I've wrapped the support leg in rubberized cloth to prevent anymore damage but locking the pad open is best solution. I want to get the fiberglass chip repaired, but I won't until I find away to fix the problem.
