I have an 04 270 that came with a Horizon 600/900 windlass.I have been having problems with the rope skipping on the winch teeth. After doing some investigating it seems that the control arm has been deformed. When the anchor is all the way up the control arm sits on the chain. Because this arm is pushed down by its spring pressure it pushes onto the chain that is not always a flat surface. Because the arm is made of plastic it deforms and then does not sit on the rope properly.Has any one else had this problem,is there a fix? Thanks, Peter

I noticed similar deformation on mine, but it hasn't caused any skipping yet. Have you tried contacting Rinker or Horizon to see what they recommend? Could it be as simple as replacing the arm? (doesn't sound like a long term solution to me).

Peter,

I had the same problem and it ended up being the clutch nut was too loose. The chain would catch OK on the Gipsy but the rope would tend to slip through. Found the clutch nut tool in the package with all the owners manuals.

I have the same problem. I just heated mine and bet it back the other direction. Last for a while and then you have to do it again. I read they make stainless replacements. If you keep the nut on the clutch snug its not as much of an issue.

I had the same problem with mine except it broke.  My dealer gave me a metal one to install.  They are easy to install and should work better.
