I have a single handle trim control model # 88688A26 on my 2000 270Vee MercCruiser 260hp. I think I need to replace the trim switch on the handle, works fine going down but won't go up. I can get the trim up useing the trailor switch so i figure the switch on handle is broke. Is it very difficult to change? And does anyone know where i can pick one up.

First check you trim limit switch on the gimble ring.  If the switch is bad the "trim" function will not work, but the "trailer" function will.  Al

Al,
The trim limit pucks are new last season. Worked fine all season. But will take a harder look at them. Would the trim work down and not up if this was bad?

Unfortunately I am having the same problem. I have the Quicksilver Classic 3000 control. I read somewhere that the wires going into the control could have broken because they were installed without enough slack in them. I just got my boat out of storage, so I am getting ready to do my maintenance work.

Just a thought. I thought I had the same problem on my 270. On mine the ignition has to be in the on position for the trim switch to work. Down or trailer it does not mater if the switch is on. Do not know if this is normal, but I bought the boat new.
