I purchased a 99 Captiva 192 this week with 5.0 Mercruiser and Alpha One outdrive.  Boat runs great.  Other than normal maintenance I plan to do, I noticed the blower motor has a habit of tripping the breaker.

Is this a common problem.  I took a quick look and couldnt find the motor.  Could someone point me in the right direction?

The blower is probably just bad,  It should be a 3" blower, usually white in color.  Look for the air vent hoses.  The blower should be mounted low near the transom area.  Two wire connection.  Easy replacement.  I think Wallmart even sells bilge blowers.  Common repair for the spring.  Al

Yup, sounds like the blower motor has a short in it . Very easy repair.

Easy to follow the hoses as Alswagg said.  Check circuit breaker then see if you get current to blower when you find it before replacing.  Mine was blowing the wrong way.

Okay, they are suppose to draw fresh air in right, not suck out the fumes. This causes the carb efi unit to get fresh make up air and to suck the old fumes and air into the engine, right? I never really thought about checking to see if it is moving air the right way.....

I replaced mine last year with one that was quieter than the original. Correct me if I am wrong, but it is supposed to suck the air out of the bilge/engine compartment. That is how mine, and every other boat that I have been on is. You should feel the air being pumped out if you put r hand next to the vent that the hose is going to.

The bilge ventilation system , "blower" is designed to SUCK bilge air out of the boat.  The hoses for the blower must be as low as possible with out filling with water.  Fuel vapors lay low in a bilge, this is why we suck out the effected air,  thus allowing fresh air to enter the opposite side of the engine bilge area.  When the blower is on you must feel air blowing OUT of the bilge.  This is the proper way for bilge ventilation.  Note some bilges are large enough for multiple blowers,  The 420 has 4 different blowers  Al

Doesn't look like a I have a blower?  Nothing at the free ends of the hoses, but also I see no area where a blower would mount or any loose wires not connected.

Here are pics of the engine area

You blower is the white plastic piece on the left hose in the picture that is about halfway down from the vent and directly behind the exhaust manifold. It is what is holding the white hose to the back of the boat and has two white zip ties holding the hose to it.

Duh, your right, the pictures posted made me remember your right. Why didnt Rinker pull in fresh air from one side and push out the other side. Hmmm.
