Well the good news is I took delivery of a 2005 - 262 BR last week and took it for quick run to the lake on Sunday.  The bad news is that the tach isn't working.  It has power as the hour meter lights up and records time, but the needle for RPM does not move.  I pulled the dash and cleaned the wiring connector (didn't look bad to begin with).  I'm guessing the next step is to check connection at the motor.  Does anyone know where the tach wiring originates from on a Merc 6.2L?  Other thoughts on what I should be looking for?

Thanks.

Congrats on your new boat.  As for your tach it sounds like a few different things.  On my boat, it was the ground connectors.  One at the distributer and one on the motor.  Both were corroded and after replacing them all was well.  I am not sure on the 6.2L but on my 5.7L it was a brown wire and blue wire that feed my tach.  HTH

The Faria depth gauge supports shallow / deep depth warnings. If it's flashing at 5', probably was set at some time in the past.

Note that the flashing *might* be caused by growth over the transducer -- I had this problem two years ago, cleaned the hull and was good to go...

I ended up sending my tach to Faria for repair.  Got it back in about 4 weeks and it's working great.
